Bathroom Organization Ideas: 11 Quick and Easy Ways to Clear Clutter (2024)

I finally got my master bathroom organized with these bathroom organization ideas. These quick and easy storage tips really help to clear clutter from under the sink, on countertops, in drawers and more.

Bathroom Organization Ideas: 11 Quick and Easy Ways to Clear Clutter (1)

I hate to admit it, but after finishing my master bathroom makeover in the spring, I was so tired of working on the bathroom that I have only recently got around to putting everything back.

I think part of the reason I was procrastinating was that I wasn’t sure how everything was going to fit. In the old bathroom I had a vanity plus two sets of drawers. Those sets of drawers were not part of the new design. So it seemed like I was going to run out of storage space.

Since I didn’t want to keep trekking to the guest bathroom to get the things I needed, I figured I better start thinking of some creative bathroom organization ideas. And of course, I wanted to keep the look of my glam bathroom in the process.

Fortunately, there were quite a few things in my old bathroom cabinets that I could just get rid of. I think storage space is kind of like money for a lot of people…the more you have, the more you use 🙂

But anyhow…keep reading to find out how I organized the rest of my bathroom accessories.

My new cabinet only has 2 drawers in it, so I needed to make sure that I made the best use of the space.

And since there are a ton of really inexpensive kitchen drawer organizers out there, I figured there had to be something I could use in the bathroom.

This in-drawer spice rack* is perfect for keeping nail polish and other small bottles in order. It keeps them off the counter and you can actually see them all!

A regular divided organizer* works great as a bathroom drawer organizer for containing other odds and ends.

This one works really well because it comes in individual sections, so you can configure them whichever way works for your drawer. And the little rubber feet on the bottom prevent them from moving around.

The one complaint I have about this particular set of drawer organizers, is that the large one has a very sticky label attached to it. It’s a bit of a pain to remove. I don’t know why companies have to use such sticky adhesive to hold on a piece of paper!

One note: Since bathroom drawers are often narrower than kitchen drawers, make sure they will fit by measuring your drawer before you order the organizers.

Of course if you want to make sure that the organizers fit your drawers, you can always make your own drawer dividerslike I did in my kitchen

Bathroom Vanity Organizers

One of the problems with a lot of bathroom vanities is that they have a large open space behind a door that is broken up by plumbing pipes. So while it seems like there’s a lot of storage space, it can be a little awkward to use it all effectively.

I like to use these inexpensive shelf organizersto allow shorter supplies to be stacked on 2 levels (I shop at Costco…can you tell?). And the size of the shelves lets them slide in beside the plumbing.

It also lets you configure the space as you want so you can leave part of the space open for taller items or stacks of towels.

If you shop at Costco, too, a letter holder* comes in handy. It is a great way to hold tall thin packages of things like toothbrushes, razors, and floss.

I would normally also use theorganizers that have pull out baskets*, but unfortunately, the plumbing in my new vanity makes the space too small for the drawer unit.

Again…measuring the space before you order helps to prevent the frustration of organizers that won’t fit.

Over The Door Storage

Another great way to take advantage of all that vanity cabinet space is to get some over the door storage options.

I love this curling iron and hair dryer rack* that keeps them in an easy-to-access location but does not clutter up the counter.

Because the doors on my vanity are only half the height of regular doors, the extension pieces for over the door were a little too long. Fortunately, this one has the option to remove the arms and screw it into the door (or wall) so it worked out perfectly!

Storage Bench Laundry Hamper

If you followed my master bathroom makeover process, you have probably already seen my storage bench as laundry hamper addition.

But it is one of my favorite changes in the bathroom, so I just had to mention it again!

This bench is comfortable to sit on, looks good in the room and works great for dirty clothes.

Of course, if you don’t need another laundry hamper, it would also work well for storing other bathroom supplies, like extra towels or toilet paper.

Apothecary Jars

Fortunately, I was able to put some of my bathroom supplies on display. If you don’t have a lot of storage space, that’s a great way to make up for it.

These Apothecary jars* are perfect for storing things like Q-Tips and cotton balls.

I even use them by the tub to store bath salts.

Trays

If you like to take baths (like I do), storing your bath-related accessories like face cloths and scrubs on a tray makes things easy to access and does double-duty as decor.

Adding some candles or flowers helps to dress it up a little.

Bathroom Storage Baskets

I love the look of the open shelving in my vanity, but I know from the vanity in my guest bath that it’s easy for them to look cluttered. I certainly didn’t want to start out looking cluttered in my new bathroom!

Storing towels in large baskets* makes them easy to get to but still keep your shelves looking neat.

If you have a little room left over, they’re also great for storing extra toilet paper rolls.

Mirrored Bathroom Cabinet

I actually bought these mirrored medicine cabinets* before I did the bathroom makeover, but I just love them. I know…it’s just a medicine cabinet…what’s so exciting about that?

While I like the way they look from the outside, it’s actually the inside that I love.

Bathroom Organization Ideas: 11 Quick and Easy Ways to Clear Clutter (18)

Mirrors on the back of the door and on the inside of the cabinet mean you can use it to see your hair from the back. And the glass shelves make everything look like it’s floating.

They also have mirrors around the outside edges, which makes them look more finished than some other medicine cabinets.

Toilet Brush Holder

Bathroom Organization Ideas: 11 Quick and Easy Ways to Clear Clutter (19)

This toilet brush holder* is another item that I had before the bathroom makeover. I just love the fact that it doesn’t look like a toilet brush holder!

But the old one had a chip in it from being knocked over, and I didn’t want to have any already broken things in my shiny new bathroom.

I also didn’t want to give it up, so I decided to see if I could find a new one. I was a little afraid that they would no longer be in stock at the store, but apparently a lot of other people like them, too…There was no problem finding it at all!

Over the Toilet Shelves

Making use of the space over the toilet is one area that I didn’t do much with when I was originally doing my bathroom renovation.

To add some towel storage, I put back the hotel towel rack that was there before.

It wasn’t awful and it did provide an extra place for towels.

But I finally decided to go with an over the toilet shelf*, which provides more space for towels, extra rolls or toilet paper and whatever else you might want to put on it.

Bathroom Organization Ideas: 11 Quick and Easy Ways to Clear Clutter (23)

This one has glass shelves which I like so much better than wire shelving! Even the thick rails in the towel shelf used to bother me…bits of the towels were always falling through the cracks. Not so anymore!

Bathroom Shelving

Bathroom Organization Ideas: 11 Quick and Easy Ways to Clear Clutter (24)

Wall shelves, like this DIY metal shelf, are a great way to store bathroom accessories that you want to have easy access to.

I used to use this shelf for keeping the toothpaste and mouthwash at hand. But now that everything has a spot in my newly organized bathroom, I can actually use it for candles and perfume bottles. Which definitely looks prettier 🙂

So there you have it my bathroom storage ideas. Hopefully, some of them will help you to get organized, too…and now my guests can have their bathroom back.
