Former England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 LiveHuge shout out to Marc Guehi, I thought he was exceptional. All the talk when I came over to Germany is that his name has been coming out of people's mouths all the time with no actual good reason - yes, he has had a good season, but he's the only one who doesn't have all the honours around his neck in that back four.
Yet I thought he was brilliant tonight, he really stepped in, really calm on the ball. You know John Stones is at the top end of world football when it comes to centre-backs, but he was a little bit rusty tonight. I thought Guehi allowed him to play his game.
The more Marc plays the better that partnership will be.

England fan Andy, who travelled to Germany with his son to watch England v Serbia, told BBC Radio 5 Live that the public transport system was "dangerous":
"People were walkingto stations further down hoping that there might be space on the next train butno-one was getting off.
"They didn’t wantto wait for any more trains, so they just pushed further and further on. It was dangerous, it was poorly managed. There should’ve been a lot more stewardingthere.
"I don’t think they could’ve put more trains and trams on. There was already three or four lined up, but therewere that many fans all going back the same way.
"I don’t know what they could do better, otherthan control the amount of fans getting on the trains."

"It was an absolute nightmare to be honest," said England fan Jamie, on BBC Radio 5 Live, about transport issues experienced by supporters after Sunday's 1-0 win over Serbia in Gelsenkirchen.
"Getting there wasn’t too bad but getting backwas just crazy.
"They were just packing peopleonto the trains, they were just stopping at every stop and everyone was justpiling on. It wasn’t well done."

England fans were left "sidelined and with nowhere to go" following transport problems before and after Sunday's match against Serbia at the Euros in Gelsenkirchen, reports the Guardian's Jonathan Liew.
According to the story, the transport system failed to cope as not enough shuttle buses were made available from the fan park in Trabrennbahn, leaving supporters in "various states of distress and confusion".
Many instead opted to make the trek to the Arena AufSchalke on foot.

The BBC Sport website asked readers to rate the players during England's 1-0 win over Serbia in their Euro 2024 opener.
There was no doubt about your man of the match, with goalscorer Jude Bellingham given an average mark of 8.22 out of 10.
Team-mate Bukayo Saka was next highest on 7.2.
Centre-back Marc Guehi, who was playing in his first match at an international tournament, was rated fifth best with 6.81.

A win's a win. But...in order to win a tournament you have to be self critical and identify what hasn’t gone well. Defensively, we looked better than most expected and Marc Guehi's performance was a huge plus. Offensively, we looked short on ideas and that comes from playing Foden - the Premier League player of the season - out of position and a right-back - Trent Alexander-Arnold - in midfield. Jude Bellingham's unreal and would still be that at number 8. Put Jude at 8 next to Rice, with Foden ahead of him and choose Palmer or Gordon on the wing. Has to be done.

I seem to remember over the last six months everyone screaming that Southgate just had to play Foden, ignoring that Bellingham filled his position. Southgate gives it a go, starting Foden for the first time in ages and suddenly people are now saying Southgate has to have the guts to drop Foden. He can't win.

I think last night showed that Foden is Bellingham's understudy, he could come in for the last 15 to 20 minutes and provide fresh legs in the central role. We should be starting Gordon out on the left. Still undecided with Trent. I think Mainoo is the better bet against better teams where keeping the ball is more important.

He produced an important late save from Serbia's Dusan Vlahovic as England struggled to keep them at bay in the closing stages on Sunday night.
And the Everton stopper was rewarded with a fifth consecutive clean sheet for the Three Lions in group stage matches at the Euros - the longest such run in the competition's history.

Reflecting on Pickford's performance against Serbia, Hart told BBC Radio 5 Live: "He has been exceptional every time for England in tournament football and he will be hungry for a medal around his neck.
"That does not come straight away and not in the opening game of a tournament, but having a good goalkeeper is part of it.
"He is very calm post-match and understanding of moments, which is exactly the type of keeper that you need."

The negativity around England is astounding. They won their first game against a rugged, determined Serbia side without conceding. There were lots of positives and plenty of room for improvement as the tournament progresses. What more do we want from the opening game?

Plenty of positives from last night. Serbia are no mugs and remember they were 1-0 down after 13 mins and therefore were going to apply pressure on us from then on. Ultimately, we dug in and came out with the win. If Foden can’t get into the game I think Eze is better off on the left and also crying out for Shaw to be fit to make runs down the left (don’t blame Trippier for not being able to make those runs, being right-footed).

Tournaments are won by grinding it out, and we showed an ability to do that last night. If a title winning side did the same away at Wolves they’d be praised for grinding the win out despite a poor performance. So why shouldn’t England? The expectation that we should win every game 12-0 will forever baffle me. Italy needed two shootouts to go through in the last Euros! And Argentina lost to Saudi Arabia in their World Cup opener…Believe.

Christian Eriksen marked his return to the European Championship with a special goal - but Slovenia responded to grab a draw with Denmark in Stuttgart on Sunday.
The midfielder, now playing for Manchester United, collapsed on the pitch against Finland in Denmark's opening match of Euro 2021 and was later fitted with an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD).
Eriksen's return to the Euros began perfectly as he netted his side's opening goal of this tournament 17 minutes in, firing into the bottom left corner after a smart flick-on from Jonas Wind.
However, Slovenia, who also faced Denmark in qualifying, were backed by vociferous fans in Stuttgart and levelled when Erik Janza's powerful effort flew past goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel with 13 minutes left.

Friday now seems a very long time ago, doesn't it?
The arrival of Scotland's Tartan Army in Germany and jubilant scenes in Munich as they prepared for a first tournament outside the UK since 1998 dominated our build-up to the tournament.
Things fell flat pretty quickly with that opening night hammering by the hosts, but the beauty of tournament football is that Steve Clarke's men can dust themselves down and go again.
They now have two games remaining to pick up the four points he believes they need to reach the promised land of the knockout stages - a feat that no other Scotland side has managed at a major international tournament...
