One thing I wish everyone working in early years knew? 💡All inspections are different and when you hear other people say - 'Well Ofsted don't like...' to try and ignore it!I know it's difficult but it creates SO many myths... like...'Ofsted don't like rolling snack''Ofsted don't like free flow''Ofsted say you can't use toilet rolls for crafts''Ofsted pick on the quiet members of staff''Ofsted don't like in the moment planning'All of these by the way are not true... every inspection is different because you have different staff, different children, different environments, different curriculum's, different ethos and so on... what works at one setting won't necessarily work somewhere else!So what do you need to do? The most basic but most vital part of modifying diets for me is having the modification station. Having piping bags, plates, covers, the trusty robotcoupe, a selection of nozzles, rings, the IDDSI snapshot guidance, your hot cupboard (underneath), heat proof gloves, forks, spoons, a tape measure all in the same place. The amount of chefs I hear say they're panicking when plating or modifying, this is majorly due to having to do laps around their kitchen (wasting brain and physical energy) to plate or prepare modified food. Organise a space, it organises your mind for focus and sets you up for success. For your smaller kitchens - create a modification station grab box.
