  1. To make this recipe have all the ingredients ready. This seasoning recipe calls for a little heat. You can use either Cayenne pepper or hot Chili powder.

Homemade Burrito Seasoning Recipe

When seasoning burrito meat, you need something extra because burritos are a whole meal in a tortilla. The meat, vegetables, and rice are rolled into a tortilla.

So to not let the main ingredients get lost in the tortilla you need a good seasoning mix. It’s easier to make burrito seasoning from scratch because burrito spice mix is not that widely available in a grocery store.

Making burrito seasoning yourself is also cheaper, especially when you buy the spices and herbs in bulk. Packets of seasoning are expensive and are for one meal while you can seasoning mix for multiple meals.

It is easy to make seasoning for:

  • Chili powder
  • Taco mix
  • Fajitas seasoning
  • Enchilada seasoning mix
  • Mexican seasoning
  • Cajun seasoning

How To Store Burrito Seasoning

The best way to store this burrito spice mix is in a glass jar. You can use small glass spice jars or small plastic food containers. Store the spice blend in a dry and dark place like your pantry, kitchen cabinet, or pantry for at least 6 months.

Do not store it in direct sunlight, on a radiator, or near a stovetop. From experience, I can say that when you store spice blends in direct sunlight or near heat the seasoning will turn hard and change color.

This affects the taste and shelf life of the seasoning mix.
